World We Imagine Part 3
World We Imagine Part 3: InclusiveWorks
Our mission is to provide paid employment support to individuals living with disabilities while also working towards eliminating plastic waste and promoting sustainability.
Despite their inherent importance in our world, society continues to overlook two things: people that struggle with disabilities and plastic waste. Growing up in a philanthropic family, taught me the value of giving back at a very young age. However, it wasn’t until I attended Mater Dei, a Catholic High School, that I started volunteering for local organizations and began seeing how beneficial and impactful helping those who are less fortunate is on our society. Even after I graduated, I did not want to stop giving back to my community, but in wanting something different I decided to take a job that entailed taking care of two young boys with special needs. Although this job was very tough and frustrating at times, it was one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences I have ever been through. I got to see firsthand into the daily struggles people with disabilities go through on a day-to-day basis, and the disparities they will likely face for the rest of their lives. With that said, I have taken it upon myself to make the world a better, more inclusive place by creating InclusiveWorks.
At InclusiveWorks our mission is to sell eco-friendly, sustainable cosmetic products and raise money that will empower and support this underserved and unemployed community. Out of the money we will raise, 100% of it will go towards providing paid employment to those with impairments and opening more stores around the world. We will train and employ individuals with various kinds of disabilities, teach them customer service skills, and most of all, provide them with a greater sense of hope for their future. Every product we will offer will be handcrafted by companies that complement our work and will be made using all natural and organic ingredients. We will also offer zero-waste refill capabilities on all our products and will package them in either eco-friendly material or glass containers. By focusing on sustainability and our social responsibility, we are able to help solve two issues at once.
Something that InclusiveWorks recognizes that not a lot of other companies do are the hardships people with disabilities encounter and plastic waste. Today, around 85% of people with disabilities are unemployed and live in poverty at twice the rate than those without because of the discrimination and stigma that surrounds them. Their constant struggle to get a job, make money, and ultimately make a life for themselves, is something we recognize and hope to help them overcome. Another issue many companies often overlook is plastic pollution. Out of the 1,000,000 plastic bottles that are purchased every minute, only 23% get properly recycled, which ultimately creates around 800 billion pounds of plastic waste each year. To show our support for the planet, we will mail our liquid refills in a BPA-free, upcycled plastic pouch, and the dry refills on the other hand, will be shipped in a 100% compostable and biodegradable paper bag. We believe we have a responsibility to protect the environment and reduce our carbon footprint, which is why we are dedicated to eliminating plastic from our operations and promoting sustainable practices.
All in all, I believe Anima Mundi Development should invest in InclusiveWorks because of the positive change this company would bring to the disabled community and the planet. While all humans are created equal, many are not treated equal, and people with disabilities deserve to live a life where they are able to get a job, learn skills, make money, and support themselves independently. Your investment would not only allow us to provide more individuals with a more inclusive and equitable life, but also give us the ability to promote sustainable living, and make the world a much safe, less polluted place. We believe that working together, will build a better, more just, and sustainable future for everyone.
